6 CDs in cell mechanics(mechanobiology)

There are six distinguished biophysicist in cell mechanics field (their research interests cover much broader areas) and the abbreviations of their first names are either C or D. They are Dr. David Weitz (Harvard U.), Dr. Christopher Chen (U. Penn.), Dr. Dennis Discher (U. Penn.), Dr. Denis Wirtz (JHU), Dr. Douglas Robinson (JHU), and Dr. Daniel Fletcher (U.C. Berkeley). These six scientists use both experimental and theoretical approaches to investigate the biological responses of proteins and cells to mechanical stimuli, such as forces and geometrical constraints. Their research extends from molecular scale to cellular level to tissue level.

Proceedings

Dear all,

《国际博士研讨会de Valing with durability of concrete, which was held in Finland in February, have been published. The publication is available for free download at:http://www.vtt.fi/inf/pdf/technology/2012/T65.pdf. Many interesting and innovative topic, dealing both with experimental and numerical research of concrete durability, are presented.

Postdoc opportunity at Harvard in mechanics of soft materials for wearable devices

The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and the School
of Engineering and Applied Science at Harvard University invites
applications for immediate openings for a joint postdoctoral fellow
position between the Whitesides Group (Prof. George Whitesides) and the
Harvard Biodesign Lab (Prof. Conor Walsh). The research is expected to
involve material science and mechanics of soft materials with a focus on
developing novel materials (e.g. actively variable stiffness, flexible
