Faculty Positions: Mechanical Engineering at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology)

FACULTY POSITIONS: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Mechanical Engineering Program in the Physical Sciences and Engineering Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites applications for faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professors).

KAUST is an international, graduate research university dedicated to advancing science and technology through interdisciplinary research, education, and innovation. Located on the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, KAUST offers superb research facilities, generous assured research funding, and internationally competitive salaries. The university attracts top international faculty, scientists, engineers, and students to conduct fundamental and goal-oriented research to address the world’s pressing scientific and technological challenges related to the sustainability of water, food, energy, and the environment.

The Physical Sciences and Engineering Division (PSE) encompasses five core disciplines: Chemical and Biological Engineering; Chemical Science; Earth Science and Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering. The science produced in PSE is about understanding, modeling, and manipulating matter at all scales: nano, meso, and macroscopic levels; in all forms: bulk, thin films, divided colloids, fluid flows, earth as system etc.; and in interaction with external stimuli: light, heat, fluids, etc.; or stresses. The knowledge created serves to design and engineer materials, technologies, and systems. Find more information about PSE athttp://pse.kaust.edu.sa.

The Mechanical Engineering Program at KAUST has twelve full-time faculty members whose research falls into: Materials & Solids Mechanics, Thermal Sciences, Fluid Mechanics, Combustion, and Control & Dynamics. The program has strong support from KAUST’s international research collaborators and advanced central research facilities. More information is available at:http://me.kaust.edu.sa.
The Mechanical Engineering program is currently recruiting for the following positions:
• Fluid Mechanics:
优先考虑与定理研究tical and numerical expertise in fluid flows of relevance to industry or environment, such as flow in porous media, multi-phase flow, turbulence, or the dynamics of complex liquids.
• Solid Mechanics:
Preference for researchers in one or more of the following areas: experimental fracture mechanics, micromechanics, biomechanics, dynamic behavior of materials, multiphysics behaviors, and materials for energy.
• Internal Combustion Engines:
With focus on fundamental or applied combustion topics relevant to IC engines including, but not limited to: low temperature combustion and HCCI/PCCI/RCCI modes, spray combustion, emissions, fuel characterization and blending effects, lubricating oils and their effects on auto- ignition, low speed pre-ignition in GDI engines, and new concepts in IC engines. The Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) has a considerable investment in experimental IC engine research, including four extremely flexible and highly instrumented single cylinder
research engines, two metal and two optical, as well as supporting infrastructure (e.g., IQT)
• Experimental Combustion:
With demonstrated experience in any number of fundamental or applied combustion topics of current relevance including, but not limited to: flame structure, spray combustion, emissions, and new concepts in combustion. The CCRC has an extensive investment in experimental infrastructure and capabilities, especially laser-based diagnostics.

All candidates should build an independent high-impact research program and demonstrate capability of working across broad interdisciplinary areas. Senior applicants must have a proven record of high-impact research, been published in premier journals, as well as have strong teaching and student mentoring experience. Applicants should apply at the http://pse.kaust.edu.sa/">http://apptrkr.com/307857">http://pse.kaust.edu.sa/employment site.

Applications received by January 31, 2013 will receive full consideration and positions will remain open until filled.
