An immediate postdoctoral position in the design and 3D printing of fiber-reinforced polymer composites is available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Colorado Denver. The project aims to develop an integrated workflow of composite materials, including optimization design, 3D printing, and application insertion.

The Sun Research Group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kentucky has one fully-funded opening for PhD, starting from Fall 2023. The objective of this PhD is to design a demonstrator at the laboratory scale of complex, multi-step forming process for thin sheet of metallic materials, to provide a large amount of smart data to test the reliability of the numerical prediction of the final state of the material, e.g., the deformed geometry and the residual stresses. The technology readiness level (TRL) of this project is around 2-3 and no direct industrial application is aimed at.

Lithium ion batteries with solid state electrolytes are prone to degradation by a range of mechanisms including dendrite formation, void formation and swell-induced fatigue and micro-cracking. The topology of the battery plays a role over a number of length scales, from macro scale geometry of battery to the microstructural scale of the cathode. The kinetics of plating and stripping of lithium at free surfaces play a major role, along with the role of topology in terms of both performance and failure mechanisms.

I am looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to study, theoretically and computationally topics related to the dynamics of metamaterials, with specific emphasis on wave phenomena. The position is available immediately, and potentially relevant backgrounds for the position include:

1. Phononic crystals

2. Acoustic or phononic bandgaps

3. Non-reciprocal wave propagation

There are at least one PhD position opening next year, starting in 08/2023 in Prof. Kevin Wang's research group at Virginia Tech. The new student(s) will work in multiphysics modeling and computation, focusing on fluid-structure and fluid-material interaction, with applications in biomedical, aerospace, ocean, and civil engineering.
