Mission :

In the frame of collaboration between CRP Henri Tudor and the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and funded by the National Research Fund of Luxembourg (FNR), the tasks of this PhD study will include:

  • The collaboration in the framework of a global research project based on the design optimization of piezo-composite transducers using eXtended Finite Element Method (X-FEM) and Level Set Description (LSD);
  • The design, implementation and evaluation of the optimal design of piezo-electric transducers for Structural Health Monitoring applications.


Profile :

  • You hold a Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering and/or numerical analysis, applied mathematics or any relevant discipline pertaining to the project;
  • You have good programming and analytical skills with an interest in and knowledge of numerical analysis, design optimization and/or smart materials;
  • You are interested in the development of topology optimization algorithms using advanced numerical modeling methods;
  • You have good English skills. Any other language is considered an asset.
