Arterial Fibre Characterisation using
Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The
aim of this research is to translate an existing diffusion tensor imaging
protocol, used for fibre characterisation within animal arterial tissue, to one
suitable for the characterisation of the arterial fibre structure of healthy
human carotid arteries.The research
will also further develop an existing finite element based fibre remodelling
algorithm for use in the prediction of fibre patterns within diseased human
carotid arteries.

The
researcher will work closely with other members of a multidisciplinary project
team including PIs, clinicians, postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers in
the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering andCentre for Medical Engineering Research in
DCU, the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience and St. James’s Hospital
.

Candidates
should have a
PhD in bioengineering or related
与具体学科c experience in arterial tissue testing, non-linear
continuum mechanics and
computer programming. Experience in magnetic resonance
imaging would be highly beneficial but is not essential.

This position is
funded by a Science Foundation Ireland ERC development grant.
