The selected candidate is responsible for numerical simulations using density functional theory and molecular dynamics approaches, to support Nanomaterials, Self-Healing and Meta materials, and Energy storage groups to develop prototype products, publish and present the work in high impact journals and conferences along with the supporting work. The candidate will be responsible for interacting and collaborating with other researchers and providing necessary training for engineers.

Responsibilities:

·Develop a framework in linking the atomic simulation with the macroscopic observations in the material science domain

·Generate atomic models based on experimental characterization of nanostructures, analyze and report the findings in a scientific manner

·Focus on the applied research to solve painpoints of the teams within AMRC and external clients

·Present ongoing work and findings to peers at academic conferences locally and internationally, and summarize the nature of the research, methodology and results

·教和监督、高级nior team members in their research across various teams

·Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

·Designing, integrating and developing new methodologies, techniques and programs

·Conduct independent research with minimal supervision

Essential Skills:

·A good publication record

·Strong background in atomistic simulation methods such as electronic structure calculation methods, Density Functional Theory, Ab Initio simulations, molecular dynamics, and monte carlo

·Familiarity with Quantum ESPRESSO or VASP and LAMMPS is necessary

·Has a deep understanding of electronic structure theory and quantum mechanics, including density functional theory (DFT) and wavefunction-based methods

·Atomistic simulations as applied to any of these applications: energy storage applications such as supercapacitors and batteries, battery simulations, nanomaterials, polymers, self healing materials

·Strong coding skills for scientific computing in any one of these: Python/Matlab/Fortran/C/C++

·Ability to work in a team environment with effective verbal and written communication skills

Familiarity with the following will be considered a plus:

·Professional computational tools such as QuantumATK, Biovia Materials Studio, Schrodinger, Gromacs, or any other related software

·Experience in machine learning techniques applied to materials science problems

·High performance computing systems

Qualifications:

A recent Ph.D. degree (or Ph.D. dissertation submitted) in Computational Materials Science/Physics/Chemistry, or any other relevant field with the above mentioned skillsets.

At TII, we help society to overcome its biggest hurdles through a rigorous approach to scientific discovery and inquiry, using state-of-the-art facilities and collaboration with leading international institutions. Our rigorous discovery and inquiry-based approach helps to forge new and disruptive breakthroughs in advanced materials, autonomous robotics, cryptography, digital security, directed energy, quantum computing and secure systems.
