Computational Solid Mechanics Faculty Position in Cornell Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

We're searching for a tenure-track faculty member in Computational Solid Mechanics at Cornell. Full description attached. The deadline for full consideration is 12/31/15.

We seek an outstanding individual engaged in computational research in solid mechanics or mechanics of materials. The ideal candidate will be an innovator in the development and application of numerical methods for predicting the mechanical response of any class of solid materials or structures and in the use of high performance computing. These methods could include representations of materials or structures over a range of size scales and the use of continuum, atomistic, multi-scale and multi-physics approaches. Example areas of interest include modeling and design of structural and material systems, material processing, and modeling and representation of material evolution under large deformation. Specific opportunities exist for collaborationwith theorists and experimentalists, including the incorporation of microstructural and micromechanical data into simulations.
