PhD Positions @ the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Hybrid Composites

Two PhD positionsare available starting Summer/Fall 2019 in the Manufacturing and Mechanics Lab (MaMeL) within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the supervision of Professor Pavana Prabhakar. The research topic is in the area of Mechanics of Hybrid Composites, and will involve theoretical/computational multiscale and multiphysics modeling in combination with experimental manufacturing and characterization studies.

Required Background for the Positions

We are looking for candidates with a strong background inAdvanced mechanics of materials, Computational solid mechanicsandFracture mechanics.Prior knowledge of Polymer Composites and manufacturing will be advantageous.Proficiency inprograming skills using Python/C++/Fortranand using commercial finite element packages such as ABAQUS is required.
