Extreme Mechanics Letters(EML)is pleased to welcome the addition of Dr.Metin Sittias an Associate Editor.

Dr. Metin Sitti received his BSc and MSc degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1992 and 1994, respectively, and PhD degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1999.

He is currently Director of the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany, and also Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include small-scale physical intelligence, mobile microrobotics, bio-inspired materials and miniature robots, soft robotics, and micro-/nanomanipulation.

Dr. Sitti is an IEEE Fellow and received the SPIE Nanoengineering Pioneer Award in 2011 and NSF CAREER Award in 2005, as well as many best paper, video and poster awards in major robotics and adhesion conferences.

Extreme Mechanics Letterspublishes rapid communication of research that highlight the role of mechanics in multi-disciplinary areas across materials science, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and engineering; with an emphasis on the impact, depth and originality of new concepts, methods and observations at the forefront of applied sciences.
