Hybrid Composite Tensile Test

亲爱的工程师。

I am Master degree student and I am trying to determine Young's Modulus of Hybrid Composite. Since I Don't have any material properties in detail of each part of mentiond composite, I chose an experimental tensile test with MTS machine to attain at Least Young's Modulus. The major problem which I have faced is that due to limitation on my sample, i can just prepare specimen for transverse tensile test based on ASTM standard which recommend geometrical dimensions for specimen.

All in all, the question is that is there any numerical method to calculate logitudinal Young's Modulus according to transverse Young's Modulus?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

With best regards.

Hi,

First of all you need to specify why is it hybird? Does the laminate have two different fabrics? or have you embedded SMA? or something else?

However, if the fabric is bi-directional, then E11 = E22, and E11 (or E22) is not equal to E33. If the fabric is UD, then E11 and E22 are two independent parameters and E22 = E33.

Dear Sir,

The mentioned composite is consist of epoxy matrix + polymeric fiber1 + adhesive+ flexiable metal plate + adhesive+ polymeric fiber2 that polymeric fiber 1 and 2 are different material the second one I 100 % sure is polymeric but for the first one I think it is carbon fiber. Do you think it is not hybrid composite? As further information the angle main fiber(1) is zero and has bi-directional mesh, the second as well.

Many thanks for your special attention. I looking forward for practial measures as always.

With best regards.
