The sources of noise in a vehicle are many, including the engine, driveline, tire contact patch and road surface, brakes, and wind to name a few. A Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) engineer is tasked with predicting these noises early in the design phase to make the necessary adjustments to ensure a harmonic ride, so to speak. The latest SIMULIA Tech Brief illustrates the effects that rolling tires have in contributing to NVH. The vibration characteristics of rolling tires are considerably different from those of stationary tires so it is necessary to predict the NVH response of a moving vehicle to correlate with real-world results. Realistic simulation allows for a greater understanding of how the interaction between a rolling tire and the road contribute to vehicle noise and vibration, enabling engineers to determine how different tire designs affect NVH and improve their designs. How to deal with noisy data in a mesh free Galerkin method //m.limpotrade.com/node/10326 < div class = "字段field-name-body field-type-text -with-summary field-label-hidden">

I'm currently working with a particle tracking velocimetry method, specifically trying to extract shear and vorticity data from the non-gridded velocity results. Of several methods used, the most efficient and accurate was based on a non-Sibsonian element free method. Unlike a more typical Galerkin problem which finds displacements by solving a PDE, this method uses the displacements of natural neighbors to find local flow gradients.
But here's the rub: this method is very sensitive to noisy data. Small errors in the displacement data cause large errors in the calculated gradients. Thus far smoothing the displacement data has been unsuccessful in correcting this problem.
Has anyone worked on a similar problem or had to deal with noisy inputs into a meshfree method like this? I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks,
Micah

2009 SIMULIA Customer Conference
May 18-21, 2009 • the Brewery, London, England

For nearly two decades, we have hosted an annual worldwide Abaqus Users' Conference. This year, SIMULIA is pleased to announce the expansion of our traditional Abaqus Users' Conference (AUC) to include users of Isight and Fiper. To support this expansion at our 2009 event, the AUC will formally become the SIMULIA Customer Conference (SCC).
