The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zürich invites applications for professorial faculty positions of all ranks and in all areas of Mechanical and Process Engineering. The following topical areas or combinations thereof are of particular interest: (i) engineering mechanics: all areas including theory, numerics, experimentation and their applications, (ii) manufacturing: all related disciplines ranging from digitalisation to engineering design to additive manufacturing, advanced laser technologies and novel materials systems and (iii) digitalisation in production: all areas including the development of “smart processes”, new algorithmic strategies such as deep learning, artificial intelligence and internet of things. In addition to the above areas, exceptional candidates in any field within the domain of mechanical and process/chemical engineering will also be considered.
For more information see the attached announcement. Applications will be reviewed starting December 1, 2018, but applications are welcome until the positions are filled.

The Mechanics & Materials Group within ETH Zurich's Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering has several openings for PhD students as well as a postdoctoral scholar. All positions are within the area of multiscale mechanics of solids with a primary focus on theory and simulations but also an experimental PhD thesis. Please see the attached description of the positions as well as requirements for potential candidates and contact information. The positions are open immediately and applications are welcome.

Introduction and Live Demo: 3D Image Visualisation, Analysis and Model Generation with Simpleware
Date: Wednesday, May 11, 2016
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), Building ETZ, Gloriastrasse 35, Zurich, Switzerland
Who should attend
This workshop is aimed at those interested in visualising, measuring, and meshing 3D image data to generate models for 3D Printing, CAD, and FEA simulations. We will demonstrate the ease of obtaining high fidelity meshes from 3D image data, and will show the workflow of processing data for a variety of applications. If you are working in areas such as Materials Science, Geophysics, Biomechanics, Non-Destructive Evaluation and Reverse Engineering, then this workshop is for you.
You will learn how to:
Agenda
8:45 - 9:00 Registration
9:00 - 10:00 Presentation and short demo: Introduction to the Simpleware Software suite
10:00 - 12:00 Hands-on tutorial (optional): Follow different software tutorials or work on your own data
Bring your own data
Attendees are also encouraged to send in their image data to get personalised support during the hands-on session. All data will be treated confidentially, and a secure FTP site will be available before the workshop.
