Two PhD student positions are available in the broad areas of solid, structure, fatigue, fracture and computational mechanics at the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE) of University of Central Florida (UCF), Orlando, FL.

The research is to characterize and model mechanical properties (elasticity, plasticity, fatigue and fracture) for new materials, for example, advanced high strength steels sheets, carbon nano tube composites, metal matrix nano composites, etc. These materials have great application potentials for automotive, aerospace, energy and defense industries. Extensive material testing, finite element analysis and molecular dynamic simulations will be involved.

To apply, please send me your resume and representative publications to bai@ucf.edu. The positions will start on fall 2012.
