Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract for the ‘Shock & Blast’ session under Track 1: Dynamic Behavior of Materials. This symposium is part of the 2021 SEM Annual Conference & Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics (Virtual or Albuquerque, NM, USA, June 14-17, 2021).
The ‘Shock & Blast’ session is intended to provide a forum to present and discuss recent developments in experimental methods, analysis and high-rate response of materials and structures subjected to shock or blast loading. All types of materials and structures are of interest (metals, ceramics, glass, composites, foams, sandwich, concrete, biological tissues, etc.).
Please submit a short abstract (200 words or less) by the deadline, November 9, 2020 at https://sem.org/annualauthor (click “Upload/Edit Submission” button). Please indicate the session organizer by entering either of the organizers’ “Last Name, First Name” in your submission to ensure inclusion in the right track.
Additional information can be found at: https://sem.org/annual
Sincerely,
Session Organizers
Behrad Koohbor, Rowan University (koohbor@rowan.edu)
Suraj Ravindran, California Institute of Technology (surajrav@caltech.edu)
A Postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Anderson lab in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Behavior at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The Anderson lab seeks a post-doctoral scholar with strong experience in some combination of the following: experimental fracture mechanics, Impact dynamics, dynamic fracture modeling, energetics and/or biomechanics. Please see the attached ad for more information. More information about the Anderson Lab can be found here: https://www.philipslanderson.com/

i am doing my mtech project on ballistic imapct of composite plates.i want to include the shock wave response of the material in the vumat code.can anyone provide useful suggestions regarding this?i also want to know can we plot the output results using the vumat code?if its possible what is the command line for that?
This blog is on material behaviors under extreme loading.
