Dear Mechanics Friends - Please share this announcement with undergraduate students. This is an opportunity for mecahnics/mechanical engineering students to learn about how mecahnics affects chemistry, and vice-versa.

The Center for Mechanical Control of Chemistry (CMCC) is a new research center funded by the National Science Foundation. Each summer, the Center hosts a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program where undergraduate students will carry out fundamental research as a full member of a research group at one of the affiliated center locations (University of Pennsylvania, City University of New York, Texas A&M, MIT, and University of California-Merced) over a 10 week period. In addition to research, students will participate in professional development and science communication in collaboration with the Science History Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

We particularly encourage applications from members of traditionally underrepresented groups in STEM, including members of racial and ethnic minority groups, women, and veterans.

The application deadline is Feb. 11, 2022. Details and application information are here: https://www.chem.tamu.edu/cmcc/reu_info.php

Summer Intern Position in Material Modeling- PhD students of Mechanical /Structural Enginnering //m.limpotrade.com/node/25017 < div class = "字段field-name-taxonomy-vocabulary-6field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-hidden">

A summer internship position is available in Joint academic-industrial project between Nordisch LLC and Michigan State University. We seeks to improve the understanding of the constitutive behavior of soft materials in extreme conditions. In particular, this is important for evaluating the long-term performance of soft materials that are used as critical components in various systems.

The Modeling intern is expected to take a supporting role in the development and application of advanced modeling techniques for high-impact problems on Aging/decay of Soft Materials. The suitable candidate will support and / or lead multi-disciplinary teams focused on accelerating the design and discovery of new materials and process technologies. The role largely involves developing a deeper understanding of “structure-performance” relationships through the development of advanced numerical methods, including finite element analysis, physics-based constitutive models of polymers, and data-driven approaches to develop fast and high-throughput models. The successful candidate will work closely with Chemists, compounders, experimentalists, as well as helping in developing new concepts to tackle various technical challenges. By taking advantage of the substantial laboratory testing and characterization facilities as well as the pilot-scale equipment at the HPM lab, the Senior Modeling Scientist will gather critical experimental input for their models, validate her/his ideas under real-world conditions and drive projects to deployment at industrial operations.

Dr. Dargazany will work closely with the successful candidate in a collaborative lab environment to develop the project and help the trainee achieve their career goals.

The appointment will be for 3 to 4-months. Salary will be around $4,000 per month.

Seeking Summer Internship Opportunity //m.limpotrade.com/node/4208 < div class = "字段field-name-taxonomy-vocabulary-6field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-hidden">

I am a third year undergraduate student of IIT Kharagpur (www.iitkgp.ernet.in). In the coming summer, we are supposed to do summer training in some industry in, or out of India, whereas if we want to do internship in a university it must be a foreign university (internship in Indian universities is not allowed).

As I am very much interested to utilize the summer time (two and half months) in doing some good research work on structural/solid mechanics, I don't think industry will be a good option. On the other hand I will not be able to do internship in foreign universities without stipend. So I am looking for a paid/partially paid internship (preferably in US/ Europe) for my next summer.

Kindly suggest me some universities or Professors, where it is likely to have funding and vacancy for undergraduate researchers. My resume is attached with this post.

Thank You
