There is a new opening for a PhD student at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney (Australia). We are looking for a PhD student in the broad area of computational mechanics. Candidates should have a strong background in the theory and application of the Finite Element Method (FEM) and expertise in programming (Matlab, Fortran, etc.).

I have an opening for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University. The projectis a collaboration with experimentalists. andconcerns problems in which fractures are driven by fluid flow through porous media.

The ideal candidate will have some background in finite element methods and mechanics, nonlinear coupled field problems, C++, and high-performance computing. Experience with fracture mechanics is useful but not required.

The fellowship can begin as soon as this September, 2019, with some flexibility on the start date.

The project will investigate modelling, simulation and optimisation of soft robots and structures using computational mechanics.

Gaume at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) invites applications by highly motivated, committed, and talented students/researchers for 2 PhD and 1 PostDoc positions in the field of Computational Mechanics for Snow and Avalanche Modeling.

I am seeking a Ph.D. student and/or postdoc associate for a number of projects related to high-strain-rate plasticity and phase-transition of porous media.

Candidates with demonstrated experience in computational mechanics, poromechanics, and implementation of codes in C++ and python are strongly preferred. Basic understanding of tensor calculus and continuum mechanics is required for the Ph.D. position. Students with track-records of academic achievements are encouraged to apply.
