Date / Time: October 3-5, 2018

Location: Boston Marriott Newton, Boston, MA

At the conference you can find out more about Simpleware Software for a variety of engineering applications, including:

  • Converting 3D data into simulation-ready models for direct export to all leading FE/CFD solvers
  • Visualizing and processing data from a wide range of imaging modalities, e.g. CT, MRI, microCT...
  • Obtaining measurements and statistics such as porosity, volume, fracture dimensions...
  • Generating watertight surface reconstruction for 3D printing and CAD
  • Creating models for industry-specific simulations (e.g. materials, reverse engineering, NDE, life sciences...)

Attend the Synopsys Minicourse

Simpleware Software: From 3D Images to Models

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 / 2:30 - 3:30 PM

This minicourse demonstrates the ease of obtaining high-quality models from 3D image data in Synopsys Simpleware™ software for use in COMSOL Multiphysics®. The workflow of processing 3D image data (e.g., from MRI, CT, Micro-CT, and FIB-SEM) to create models for life sciences, materials, and manufacturing applications will be outlined and demonstrated. Learn about Simpleware software’s capabilities for image visualization, segmentation, analysis, and model generation. Examples will also be shown of workflows and case studies combining Simpleware software and COMSOL Multiphysics®.

Meet with Synopsys

Visit the Synopsys Simpleware Software booth in the exhibition area.

We will be happy to meet with you and discuss your visualization, analysis and mesh generation needs. If you wish to arrange a demo during the workshop, please email us at simpleware@synopsys.com

The Applied Mechanics Executive Committee (AMD-EC) is pleased to announce the 2018 IMECE student travel award competition, which is sponsored by the Haythornthwaite Foundation*.

Students can self-nominate and are required to send a brief one-page CV, a recommendation letter from the student’s Faculty Advisor or Department Chair, the abstract of a paper accepted for presentation at IMECE in Track 12, and a draft presentation. Please note that, at the time of the award presentation, the applicant must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at a US institution. A Faculty Advisor may not endorse more than one student. The nominations will be reviewed by the AMD-EC. Ten students will be selected for travel grants of $1000 each.

Dates:

July 30, 2018: Submit the nomination, by e-mail, to Professors Yuri Bazilevs <yuri_bazilevs@brown.edu> and Pradeep Guduru <pradeep_guduru@brown.edu>. The nomination should include: (a) CV of the applicant (one page); (b) Title and abstract of a paper accepted for presentation in Track 12 at IMECE 2018; (c) Recommendation letter from the Faculty Advisor or Department Chair.

August 12, 2018: Travel awards will be announced to the winners.

November 2018: Travel award winners will be acknowledged at the AMD Awards Banquet at IMECE 2018.
