Two new positions, Professor and Associate Professor, (both tenured) are now available in Engineering or Physics at the University of Exeter.

The positions are related to one of the Univeristy's five strategic themes, specifically 'functional materials'. We are considering this term to cover solids studied from a mechancial or electromagnetic point of view. We would be particularly interested in people working on mechanics of materials, smart structures or materials, EM or acoustic metamaterials, or applications of novel materials into specific applications eg vibration damping. We would be happy to consider entire research groups. Ideally they would complement exisiting research strengths at Exeter.

These posts are part of the Univeristy's expansion programme for Engineering and the Sciences, totalling something in excess of £100M currently I believe.

If people are interested I'd be happy to discuss things informally, but other people are also mentioned in the adverts.

Regards,

Chris Smith
