hi marcus... thanks for the reply....

im doing the bone remodeling reserach now... In my case, i have the femur bone 3D model and doing my analysis in the Abaqus.I will apply the loading, and i need to add the element if the strain is bigger than the threshold and remove the element if the stain is below the threshold. but i face the problem how i can do it.... this is the main analysis i need to do it..

do u have any learning manual or example on this problem. Or do u have any recommend software can use it.. thanx.

Why do you want to do this? You can skin solid elements with shells if you need to, but you shouldn't need to unless you're simulating something like a sandwich panel. There's no need to skin elements in Abaqus to get good surface stress plots.

Additionally, I don't think you can change an element's state during an analysis. It's possible you could do it with a restart, but that's iffy too. Again, it'd be easier to help if you described what you are trying to do.
