In the framework of the ERC project FricLess, there are various openings at the University of Padova in Italy: one for a PhD student (three years) and three for postdoctoral researchers.
The project involes building a multiscale model for contact, friction, and solid lubrication.
We are seeking for candidates that have experience with numerical simulations of the type of molecular dynamics, dislocation dynamics, crystal plasticity, finite elements.
If you are interested, please send in a single pdf file your CV, transcripts, a short letter of intent, and the contact information of three references to Lucia Nicola at lucia.nicola@unipd.it
Applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
The computational mechanics of materials group at the University of Padua, Italy, is searching for three postdocs to conduct research in the area of multiscale materials modeling. The research work aims at building a model to study contact friction and lubrication of metal rough surfaces. The project is funded by the European community (ERC grant).
Candidates should have experience with programming and be familiar with one or more modeling techniques. Preference will go to applicants with experience in dislocation dynamics or molecular dynamics simulations.
To apply please send your detailed CV, letter of intent, and publications in a single pdf file to Lucia Nicola at the following email address: lucia.nicola@unipd.it
Applications are invited for three PhD and two postdoc positions in the area of computational mechanics of materials at the University of Padova, Italy.
The successful candidates will work at building a multiscale model for the study of contact, friction and solid lubrication between metal surfaces, sponsored by an ERC consolidator grant.
We seek candidates with a master degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics or a related field. A strong interest in fundamental research and good communication skills in the English language are expected. A good computational background is preferred and an interest in modeling the mechanical behavior of materials is required. The projects are fully computational; candidates interested in carrying out experimental research should therefore refrain from applying.
To apply for the positions please send your detailed CV, transcripts, a two-page summary of your Master/PhD thesis, two reference letters and a statement of purpose to Lucia Nicola: lucia.nicola@unipd.it.
I will start reviewing PhD applications on April 1, but you can apply also after this date, until the end of May. Postdocs can apply all year long.
Two PhD positions and two postdoc positions are available at the University of Padua in the field of computational mechanics of materials. The work will involve building a multi-scale model to study contact, friction and lubrication.
For the PhD candidates, a Master Degree is required. Experience with programming is a requirement for PhD as well as postdoctoral applicants. Experience with dislocation dynamics and/or molecular dynamics simulations is appreciated.
Applications should be submitted through email to the attention of Lucia Nicola l.nicola@tudelft.nl
Applicants are invited to send a motivation letter, CV, BSc and MSc transcripts, and the contact information of at least two referees. Please send a single pdf file containing all information requested, and give it a meaningful name.
The positions are fully computational. If you would love to do also/only experiments, this is not the right position for you, please do not apply.
